Some pundits have recently said that has reversed much of Roosevelt’s New Deal, The First Amendment of The US Constitution, The Voting rights Act, The Brady Bill (guns), are they right?
Gun rights
Republicans say it is another needless Obama regulation but many people opposed repeal of President Obama’s rule that the Social Security Administration share with the people in charge of gun purchase background checks the list of people too mentally incompetent to manage their own money.
President Obama wanted this was so people considered mentally incompetent couldn’t buy shotguns and semi-automatic weapons such as the AR-15 civilian clone of the military M-16 assault rifle or the .50 cal Browning or Barrett Sniper Rifle with an effective range of about 1,800 meters (1.1 miles.)
A legal 50 cal.
rifle.
Congress has now revoked the Obama rule covering the estimated 75,000 people who are deemed so mentally disabled that they can’t be trusted to handle their own money. Those people, along with all the ones deemed too dangerous to be permitted to fly under Homeland Security Rules, will once again be able to purchase guns.
The 1st. Amendment
President Trump has declared war against the free press (CIA speech), his chief strategist and chief advisor Steve Bannon has told the press to, “just keep your mouth shut and listen for a while,” as clear a violation of two parts of the First Amendment as you will ever find.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”
president Trump’s chief advisor has violated most of that Amendment, “abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press,” by ordering from the power of The White House that they “shut up.”
Meanwhile President Trump himself by complaining about all the people marching in Washington to ask him to address their grievances (quickly reversed in a second tweet), has attempted to violate “the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Of course, that Amendment specifically states “Congress shall make no law,” but court rulings for two centuries have applied that to any action by any part of the government.
The Voting Rights Act
Civil Rights lawyers, Democrats, and the ACLU have all pointed out that President Trump’s loud, strident, repeated, and completely baseless claims of millions of illegal voters is just a smokescreen for an upcoming call for better policing of elections and specifically a requirement for mandatory identification cards and in person voting.
Courts have repeatedly found that such requirements are thinly veiled attempts to reduce minority voting rights in several ways.
First in some heavily Republican southern States polling places have been moved to police stations “for reasons of security,” despite no indication that traditional voting places such as churches are unsafe.
That, along with the photo ID law means that no one who owes traffic tickets, who owes child support, or who is suspected of any crime would dare vote lest they face immediate arrest.
Obtaining a photo ID can be difficult for elderly black people in the South either because they lack any “proper” documentation such as a passport or driver’s license, or because the locations set up for issuing the IDs are often far from the rural areas where many poor black people live.
Wall Street
Remember the financial crash of 2008? President Obama passed laws regulating the "too big to fail" banks which directly caused the crash. President Trump just began removing those restrictions. Candidate Trump promised to help the little guy but many of his Cabinet Secretaries are billionaires, all are rich by most standards, several are from the Wall Street Firm which caused the collapse.
