Firstly, to all of you that tell me there's no point in caring because I'm not American and it "won't affect me", please go and read a book or something because you evidently do not know what you're talking about. By criticising young people for caring about political issues and the world in general, you are just making yourself seem like a bit of an uncaring fool, I hate to say it.
The result
Just when I thought this year couldn't get any worse, it gets announced that Trump has won the election and therefore is the president of America... HOW? For the past couple of months, social media has been full of young people protesting their worry and hatred towards trump as he continues to represent everything wrong with the world - women hating, racist and just lacking respect for everyone else around him, by the looks of it.
The one thing that he shows is that the racism and the gender inequality within society today that people claim has declined over time is still very much prominent because it is people who believe and support this that have voted for Trump and that honestly scares me a lot.
Once again, just like with Brexit, the young people vote has been completely wiped out and it's the older people who have the say which really isn't fair considering we are going to have to live through whichever terrible changes he makes and we can't do anything about it. In recent years, it is evident that teenagers are becoming much more involved in Politics which I think is great, despite the amount of older people telling us that our opinions don't matter because we aren't of voting age.
I believe that the voting age should be lowered to 16 because it's our future that this world is messing around with and we should have a say in what's going on.
Also, I believe that, for the most part, young people today are much more open minded to situations which would have been considered taboo years ago. For example, Trump mentions immigration and "sending people back to where they belong"(even typing those words makes me feel sick), then all of a sudden he has the support of all of the middle aged people who believe that these people are "stealing their jobs" - it's really quite sickening to say the least.
Finally, I'm still confused about why his face is so orange...
People joked about Trump being president, it could have just been one huge joke. I thought Brexit was bad. 2016, what's wrong with you?
