Greta's essay on 1975 Album
According to The Independent, the British indie rock band, The 1975, will be releasing their album in August this year called ‘Notes on a Conditional Form’, and in one of their tracks off the album, they decided to work with climate activist Greta Thunberg.
In their track together, Greta talks about climate change issues. Her essay is very detailed and really goes in-depth. There is a part in her essay where she says, “We must acknowledge that we don’t have the situation under control and that we don’t have all the solutions yet. We have to acknowledge that the older generations have failed, all political movements in their present form have failed”.
There are many political movement groups that exist around the world to fight and support climate change but they haven’t been successful because not enough importance is given about this issue.
Greta is very passionate about climate change and this track clearly highlights her concerns about the future of this generation. In her essay, she said, “We have to stop our emissions of greenhouse gases and either we do that or we don’t…you say that nothing in life is black or white but that is a lie, a very dangerous lie…either we prevent a 1.5 degree of warming or we don’t.”That particular line means a lot in terms of our generation being active and doing something about climate change.
The message on climate change by Greta Thunberg
The ending of her essay was very powerful, “everything needs to change and it has to start today… so everyone out there, it is now time for civil disobedience it is time to rebel”. Then the track ends after that line. Greta really expressed her worries about the future of this generation when it comes to climate change.
It is time to act upon this and take serious actions to better our climate for the upcoming generation.
Climate change is an important issue that should be given importance around the world, in order to better the earth that we live in. We must be more active in participating with different organizations that help fight this issue.
