Dolores O'Riordan, known around the world as the lead singer for the Irish band, The Cranberries, passed away on January 15, 2018. The cause of death has yet to be confirmed, reported Time.

The Irish rock band was founded in Limerick in 1989, by brothers Mike (bass) and Noel (guitar) Hogan along with their friends Fergal Lawler (drums) and Niall Quinn (vocals).
In 1990, Dolores O'Riordan replaced Niall Quinn and they've gained international fame ever since.
They are known worldwide for hits such as "Linger," "Dreams," "Ode to My Family," " When You're Gone" and "Zombie" (Best Song in 1995 by MTV Europe Music Awards).
In September 2003, the band announced that they were going to take a break to pursue individual careers but a reunion was announced in August 2009 that the band was reuniting for an American and European tour.
In December of 2017, Dolores O'Riordan posted on the band's Facebook page, "Feeling good! I did my first bit of gigging in months at the weekend, performed a few songs at the Billboard annual staff holiday party in New York with the house band.

Transitioning from a band into a solo musical artist is no easy task and not everyone who pursues a solo music career is successful. Dolores O'Riordan did manage to squeeze between the cracks and gain fame despite going solo.
Are You Listening? - her first solo album was released in May 2007, selling over 350,000 copies worldwide as of January 2008. Her second album, No Baggage in August 2009, making it to number 80 on the Irish Albums chart the week it was released.
She's made collaborations with other artists during her solo career, with artists such as Sheryl Crow, Sting, John Lee Hooker, Macy Gray and Eric Clapton.

She is the first European celebrity death of the year 2018. It's a sad day for the music industry. In a statement released on January 15, 2018, it was revealed that the singer was found dead in a hotel in Park Lane, Westminister. Her representatives said that she was in London for a short recording session on the day that she was found dead. She is survived by an ex-husband, Don Burton and three children, Taylor, Mol, y and Dakota.
The cause of death has not yet been revealed and police have classified it as 'unexplained' at this time.
