Malayalam Megastar Mammootty's 'The Great Father' released across the Kerela state in 202 screens with 960+ shows on the first day of its release. Even though the film received mixed reviews from the critics and the general public, it succeeded in creating Box Office records at the Kerela state on its opening days.

The production house August Cinema officially announced that 'The Great Father' minted Rs 4.31 crores gross in the Kerela state on its opening day. This is the All-Time record for any movie in the Kerela till date, Rajinikanth's 'Kabali' used to hold the record previously with Rs 4.27 crores but Mammootty's thriller drama surpassed it with a slight margin.

'The Great Father' first-day collections in Multiplexes

The film also created All-Time record collections in Calicut Apsara Multiplex by minting Rs 5.43 lakhs on day one of its releases. In the Kochi Multiplexes, the movie had a decent occupancy of 96.39% from 47 shows, where it collected Rs 13.89 lakhs. It is the fourth-best occupancy in the Kochi Multiplexes after Kali - 99.08%, Pulimurugan - 98.71% and Ezra with 97.28%.

The other Multiplex collections include Carnival Cinemas with Rs 3.31 lakhs, Aashirvad Cineplex – Rs 4.22 lakhs and Trivandrum Ariesplex – Rs 5.43 lakhs.

The Top 5 first-day openers at the Kerela box office including other languages are The Great Father - Rs 4.31 crores, Kabali - 4.27 crores, Pulimurugan - Rs 4.08 crores, I movie - Rs 3.19 crores, Theri - Rs 3.16 crores.

On the other hand, the Top 5 list in Malayalam movies includes The Great Father - Rs 4.31 crores, Puli Murugan - Rs 4.08 crores, Jomonte Suvishesangal - Rs 2.71 crores, Ezra - Rs 2.61 crores, Munthiri Vallikal Thalirkkumbol - Rs 2.52 crores.

Thus Mammooty's 'The Great Father' directed by debutant Haneef Adeni created the sensation on the first day in the Kerela state with its record-breaking collections. Nonetheless, we need to wait and see how many records it is going to break in coming days at the box office.
