Chart-topping star Ed Sheeran has been unveiled this week as the final headliner at this year’s eagerly awaited Glastonbury festival. The popular singer-songwriter – who earlier this month released his third album “Divide” – told fans via Instagram that he would be taking to the Pyramid stage on 25th June.

It is not the first time that the tattoo-covered Sheeran will have appeared at the annual Somerset spectacular, but it will be his first time for topping the bill on an individual day. His own thoughts on claiming the prime Sunday night slot were that it “is awesome.”

Cameo expected on game of thrones

It’s not the only exciting news that the 26-year-old musical megastar has let slip recently, after tweeting that “the cat’s out the bag” when rumours surfaced about his potential cameo appearance in the smash hit phenomenon Game of Thrones.

“GoT” creators had said as much at a panel discussion held at the South by Southwest festival in Texas, when questioned about plans for the forthcoming series.

Surprise for Maisie Williams

David Benioff and Dan Weiss admitted that they had been attempting to find a place in the award-winning fantasy saga for the Yorkshire-born singer “for a while,” as a surprise for key cast member Maisie Williams. The rapidly-flourishing actress - who plays Arya Stark on the show – is believed to be a superfan of Sheeran’s music.

Becoming a feature of GoT

In what seems to be an intermittent feature of Game of Thrones since its inception back in 2011, Sheeran will join a growing list of musical cameos when he adds to the series seven entertainment.

Past cameos have included members from Icelandic rockers Sigur Ros, American heavy metal band Mastodon and even British supergroup Coldplay.

Who says romance is dead?

Sheeran’s romantic side may be all-too-evident in the lyrics and style of several of his most popular tracks, yet the Thinking Out Loud creator is not always quite so slushy in his private life.

Although his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn did really like the song Perfect, a track he dedicated to her, the manner in which he first presented it to her appears to have been far from ideal.

Apparently, Ed decided to email her the lyrics via his Hotmail account, revealing that (as a result) he “didn’t see her first reaction to the song because she lived in New York at the time.” Not so perfect after all then.
