In 2015, Amercian President Barack Obama was invited as the chief guest for 66th celebrations. In 2016, President François Hollande invited for the 67th celebrations. Now, In 2017, Indian Government invited Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the 68th Republic celebrations.

Padma Awards on this special day
Every year, Indian Government announce Padma Awards on the eve of Republic day and this year, it was expected that 120 members are going to receive the Padma awards.
It was known that former Indian Captain M S Dhoni who received Padma Shri award in 2009 was said to be honored with Padma Bhushan this time which is the third highest civilian award. On the other hand, the Rio Olympic stars Sakshi Malik and P V Sindhu are also going to receive Padma awards and even the coach of P V Sindhu, Pullela Gopichand will be honored with the award.
