French Concession - Xuhui District, Shanghai, China

Readers would be forgiven if they believed an incorrect image had been loaded for the French Concession in Shanghai, China. The only thing that shows it is in the country is the pair of Chinese-style lions, guarding the front door. This area of the city was a French colony from 1849-1946, when the Chinese government took the area back under its control. Besides leafy trees and attractive, European-style buildings there are a number of quaint boutiques and cafes to visit here.
