Xiaomi is reportedly working towards the launch of its mid-ranger, Redmi Note 5A smartphone. The company will be taking the wraps off its device at an event on August 21. A report published by Gizbot suggests that the press conference event is scheduled to take place in China. The Redmi Note 5A is going to succeed the Redmi Note 4 – which was introduced by the company last year. The smartphone will also be serving as the lighter and cheaper version and sibling to Redmi 5 smartphone.

Alleged pictures of the boxes that the phone is going to arrive in have now been leaked online. They hope this will try to capture the Android smartphone market with the help of the said device.

Specs and features

On the basis of the information provided through the leaked images, it appears that the smartphone will consist of three card slots instead of two. According to a report published by First Post, the smartphone is expected to pack-up a single tray, which will consist of three different types of card slots – out of which, instead of a hybrid card slot there will be a dedicated space for microSD card on a single tray, whereas the other two will be dual-SIM card slots. It is safe to assume that the users will be provided with the option of expanding the memory if they’d like.

Design, camera and processor details

The device is also assumed to come equipped with a front flash along with the camera sensor, with the main objective to improve the quality of the pictures captured using the front camera, especially in low-light conditions.

Apart from this, the official Xiaomi website also has an official post that suggests that the Redmi Note 5A will arrive in two separate variants – out of which, one will be more expensive and will equip better features in comparison to the other one. Both the variants will include a 16-megapixel Rear Camera.

The specifications of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5A have been leaked online before. As per the information leaked before, the device is expected to come featuring a 5.5-inch display. The smartphone is further speculated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 system-on-chip. On the storage front, the device will probably offer 2GB of RAM. While it has been rumoured that the device will feature a dual rear camera setup, powered by Omni Vision sensors (including OC12A10 and OC13880), the same hasn’t been confirmed by the firm as of yet.
