After a brilliant start at the AFC Asian Cup 2019, the Indian National Football team will now face the hosts, the United Arab Emirates in their second group A game on Thursday, January 10, 2019. The match will be held at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The official kick-off time is 8:00 PM Local, 9:30 PM IST, 4:00 PM GMT. Both the teams are placed in group A alongside Thailand and Bahrain.

India eye qualification while the UAE look to bounce back

India won their opening game against Thailand 4-1 and are currently holding the first position in the group due to the more significant goal difference.

UAE drew their first match against Bahrain 1-1 on the opening day of the tournament.

A win for India will secure them a spot in the next round, which would be a historic moment for the side which doesn't have a great record in the Asian Cup, while a win for the hosts will also bring them closer to qualification. A draw would be mean that all the teams will go to the round three of the group stages with fingers-crossed on the qualification.

Hotstar, the digital platform of Star will steam this game live via its app and website for the premium users from the Indian subcontinent. Eurosport will broadcast the games of the Asian Cup 2019 live in the European countries.

The hosts do possess a considerable threat in front of the Indian side, but after the resounding win against Thailand, they must be confident. Indian captain Sunil Chhetri scored a brace in the previous game to handover India their first Asian Cup game victory since 1964.

UAE is probably the strongest side in this group with a FIFA World ranking of 79, ahead of India's rank of 97.

There aren't many changes which can be expected in India's side for this game, but Chhetri will hold the key if India has to create history.

“We’ve finally got respect for Indian football, we’ve woken the sleeping giant. It was dead and buried four years ago.”
