The second's day play will start at 10:00 AM local, 11:00 AM PST.

Earlier in the day, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat first on a track which seemed to have something for the bowlers.

Pakistan soon put the visitors under extreme pressure by taking three quick wickets.

At 39/3, Henry Nicholls joined captain Williamson at the crease, and the pair stitched a good partnership. After putting on a stand of 72 runs, Nicholls departed for 28 runs leaving Williamson to do the job.

After this, no batsman could form a partnership as New Zealand's innings kept falling apart. Williamson brought up his fifty but got out for 63 runs as soon as Nicholls lost his wicket. The Pakistan bowlers ran through the tail in quick time by wrapping the Kiwis innings at the stroke of tea. New Zealand could make only 153 runs.

Yasir Shah stars with three wickets

For Pakistan, Yasir Shah was the pick of the bowlers as he got three wickets. Hasan Ali, Mohammad Abbas, and Haris Sohail picked up two wickets each while Bilal Asif got just one wicket. A collective bowling performance meant New Zealand couldn't even a get a proper start to the Test series which was expected to pose lots of questions on their composure.

Pakistan batted through the final session but lost two wickets in the process. Colin de Grandhomme got rid off Imam-ul-Haq early in the innings, and Trent Boult followed soon by picking up the wicket of Mohammad Hafeez. Later, Azhar Ali and Sohail batted cautiously to make sure Pakistan doesn't lose another wicket. At stumps on day one, Pakistan's score was 59-2.

The day two of the first Test will begin on Saturday, November 16, 2018, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Pakistan still trails by 94 runs with eight wickets in hand. Azhar and Sohail will resume their respective innings on 10 and 22 runs when they come out to bat on day two.
