Arsenal clinched a dramatic win against Leicester City on Wednesday night after a deflected shot from Nacho Monreal made it 1:0 for the Gunners in the 86th minute. As usual, the Gunners dominated possession but were unable to capitalise on it. At one point, the players were even booed by their own fans for overplaying instead of having a shot on goal. Nonetheless, there was a notable highlight in the rather dull match, which came from Arsenal's talisman Alexis Sanchez. With 24 goals and 14 assists in all competitions, the former Barcelona man has been the Gunners' standout player this season.

Sanchez is often singled out for his creativity, electrifying pace, and skill on the ball. However, in Wednesday's game, Sanchez had a very poor performance for his standards. Regardless, he was still the centre of attention.

Sanchez's dramatic fall and subsequent reaction on social media

During the closing stages of the match, Alexis Sanchez and Christian Fuchs were involved in a puerile dispute that saw the Chilean booked by the referee. The Chile international was trying to obstruct Fuchs, who was attempting to take a long throw into Arsenal's penalty box, by standing in front of him. Subsequently, the Austrian defender launched the ball at Sanchez in frustration and hit the 28-year-old on the shoulder.

After a brief delay, Sanchez collapsed to the ground in dramatic fashion. As a result of his theatrics, the former Barcelona forward received a lot of backlash on social media. After the final whistle, however, Sanchez immediately took to Instagram and Twitter to reveal the extent of his injury. In a selfie posted to his official social media accounts, the 28-year-old showed that he had indeed suffered a tiny cut on his lower lip.

Two days after Arsenal's win at the Emirates, Robert Huth posted a photo of his 'injury' in response to Sanchez's swollen lip.

Leicester defender Huth mocks Sanchez on social media

Apparently, Huth was rather unimpressed with Sanchez's theatrics on Wednesday. On Friday, the German defender took to Twitter to reveal that he, too, had suffered a minor injury from the game at the Emirates. The 32-year-old uploaded a photo of his left index finger that had received a tiny scratch. The photo featured a sarcastic caption seemingly aimed at Sanchez: "Just about recovered from the arsenal battle the other night #playon."

Sanchez and Huth were also involved in a bizarre incident during the match.

Minutes after his booking, Sanchez awkwardly collided into Huth and brought the tall German defender to the ground. Fortunately, the Chilean did not receive a second yellow and the match ended 1:0 for Arsenal thanks to Huth's own goal.
