Slipknot’s changing line-up

Since the tragic death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010, Slipknot have come up against a few band member changes, in December 2013 the band parted ways with co-founder and much-loved drummer Joey Jordison.

Jordison originally said that it was due to “personal reasons” that he left the band, but in 2016, during a Metal Hammer awards show, he revealed that he had been battling with a neurological disorder. He told the awards audience, “I couldn’t play anymore. It was a form of multiple sclerosis, which I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.” Slipknot have since replaced Joey Jordison with new drummer Jay Weinberg.

In March this year (2019), Slipknot released a statement on their website, stating that percussionist Chris Fehn had also left the band. News has since arisen of a legal dispute between the band and Fehn.

Yet more tragedy for Slipknot

On May 19 this year (2019) it was revealed that Slipknot founder Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan’s daughter Gabrielle had passed away at the age of 22. Crahan took to social to inform his fans of his devastating news.

He wrote on Instagram: 'It is with a broken heart, and from a place of the deepest pain, that I have to inform all of you that my youngest daughter, Gabrielle, passed away yesterday - Saturday May 18th, 2019.'

Slipknot will be Headlining Download Festival on Saturday 15 June.
