The Russians found obviously a way to allow surface-to-air missile launches in case of radio-electronic jamming, and an old TV optical channel for target tracking was not likely the only solution of the problem. The backbone of the al-Assad's military aviation was saved; according to the Russian Ministry of Defence almost all incoming cruise missiles were shot down before reaching the airfields.
