An Uber Seat Alhambra vehicle collided with a silver Seat Leon car on the Outer Ring Road in Horsforth, Leeds. The accident happened at 2:40 AM on Saturday. Two of the victims of the crash were aged 19, while a third was 18 and another was 21. They were all certified dead at the scene of the accident. A 16-year-old girl has been taken to the hospital and is in a critical condition while a 17-year-old girl is in a serious condition. There were six people in the car in total.

As reported by the Times, the Seat Leon car that was involved in the collision was driven by a 42-year-old man from Bradford, who is in a serious, but not life-threatening condition.

West Yorkshire Police investigate Uber horror crash

West Yorkshire Police Sergeant Fiona Hoodless, who heads up that division’s major collision enquiries, said the incident was “very tragic.” Hoodless went on to say they were carrying out extensive enquiries into the incident to establish the full circumstances. She added that their investigation is only in its initial stages. She did, however, say it seems the silver Leon was travelling at a high speed when the collision occurred.

Hoodless asked anyone in the area who may have witnessed the horror crash or the circumstances leading up to it to please come forward to assist in their investigations.

They are particularly keen to receive any dashcam footage of the incident.

Uber crash victims named

ITV reports that the four victims of the crash have unofficially been named. They were local residents named as 19-year-old Declan Grove, 18-year-old Matty Walshaw, 21-year-old Caelan Megson and 18-year-old Brandon Frew. While the victims have not been officially identified by authorities, Facebook has been flooded with tributes from family and friends.

The 16-year-old girl who was in the Seat Leon at the time of the crash has not been named. ITV reports that the teenage female aged 17 who also in the vehicle had received serious, but not life-threatening injuries and is in hospital.

Community in mourning

The tragedy of four young people losing their lives has affected the whole community. Their family and many friends are placing tributes at the scene of the horrific crash. After police reopened the road, ITV said a group of around 20 people were hugging each other and crying as two women placed flowers on the lamppost at the scene.

The ITV report quoted one tragic note from a mother who had lost her son, which read that her “beautiful son” was loved and adored and telling him to rest in peace. The note didn’t name the victim in question. Another message was addressed to Matty Walshaw, 18, by his brother, saying he would be in their hearts forever and that words couldn’t describe the love he had for his younger brother.
