Anyone who enjoys a good horror series or Film loved the Netflix show “The Haunting of Hill House,” up to and including horror author Stephen King. Critics and fans were soon clamouring for more and the good news is there will be.

Obviously, season one gave viewers closure, so the new season on Netflix will see a brand new story with completely different stars and characters. In fact, Variety reports that there will now be a new “Hauntinganthology series.

First teaser trailer released

According to a teaser trailer released on Twitter, the series will air in 2020, and while they have blurred out the location, Consequence of Sound notes there is a quote from the Henry James’ gothic story, “The Turn of the Screw” included in the footage, a story centred around Bly House.

This isn’t the only good news, however, as Netflix is so impressed with Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy’s work, they have given them an exclusive Television deal for the next few years. This will see the talented pair producing new television projects that go far beyond the gates of the terrifying Hill House.

Netflix VP of original content, Cindy Holland, has said the two are very good at creating “authentically frightening stories,” leaving viewers poised on the edge of their seats and unable to stop watching. Holland said Netflix is excited to continue their partnership with Flanagan and Macy on both “The Haunting” anthology series and several future projects.

Producers proud to work with Netflix

Meanwhile, Flanagan and Macy said in a statement that the streaming platform has been “an important part” of their own story. They say they are proud to have worked with Netflix on season one of “The Haunting of Hill House,” as well as the excellent film adaptation of Stephen King’s “Gerald’s Game,” as well as “Before I Wake,” and “Hush.” Their statement said Netflix has supported and enabled a lot of their work and they are looking forward to working with them more.

Mike Flanagan and ‘Doctor Sleep’

Flanagan is currently working on editing the adaptation of King’s 2013 novel “Doctor Sleep,” the much-anticipated sequel to the author’s iconic 1977 novel “The Shining” which was adapted into a film by Stanley Kubrick.

Doctor Sleep” will star Ewan McGregor in the role of a grown-up Danny Torrance, with Rebecca Ferguson starring as Rose the Hat, Zahn McClarnon as Crow Daddy, Emily Alyn Lind as Snakebite Andi and Carel Struycken as Grandpa Flick, among others.
