Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey had an absolute ball making his new Film “The Beach Bum.” It’s evident from the new trailer that has just been dropped by Neon. GQ notes that in the film, McConaughey is finally embracing a vibe given off by him for 20 years, so it must be destiny.

McConaughey stars as the titular beach bum, Moondog, a lovable and rebellious rogue who is apparently “channelling his inner Dude.” He plays opposite Snoop Dog and Zac Efron in a colourful, chaotic film about a guy who is supposed to be writing his great novel but is having one hell of a good time along the way.

Uproxx reports that the film is being written and directed by Harmony Korine, who was involved in “Spring Breakers,” and it has a similar vibe. Just to get a feel for the trailer, we see Matthew McConaughey climbing out of a Jacuzzi in a revealing purple thong. Moondog also reads an epic poem to a thrilled audience where he says he will one day swallow up the world. He adds that when he does, he hopes they will all “perish silently.”

We see an elderly man with glaucoma in both eyes flying a plane and smoking quite possibly the largest joint you have seen in your life.

Well, maybe not the largest, as Moondog himself smokes some pretty big ones, too, and that's just in the trailer. We also see Martin Lawrence’s character feeding cocaine to his “cocaine-addicted parrot.” That’s not all, we also see the actor attempting to write the “great American novel” on a red portable typewriter in various scenic spots.

In "The Beach Bum," McConaughey plays the role of an author and rebellious stoner by the name of Moondog. However, he finally takes things too far and after a particularly bad drug bender, gets arrested and is forced to reform his ways.

Stars of ‘The Beach Bum’

Besides McConaughey, “The Beach Bum" stars Snoop Dogg in the role of Lingerie, Zac Efron as Flicker, Isla Fisher in the role of Minnie, Jonah Hill as Lewis and Jimmy Buffett as himself.

As noted on IMDb, Moondog’s drug counsellor is played by Frenchi Firecracker (a real firecracker of a name if ever there was one).

The film’s synopsis tells us the movie follows the “outrageous misadventures of Moondog (outrageous indeed), an unruly burnout who can only live his life under his own rules. The film is considered to be “wildly original and subversive.” As reported by Coming Soon, the film opens in cinemas on 22 March 2019 and will also make a premiere at the SXSW film festival.
