There has been much anticipation for the first trailer to appear for the remake of “The Lion King.” That trailer is included for viewing at the end of this article. While previously the Film was animated, Disney calls the reboot a “live-action film” with CGI effects.

The new Disney film is set for release in cinemas in July 2019 and features voiceovers by James Earl Jones, who is reprising his role as Mufasa from the 1994 film. Donald Glover voices the part of Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Scar’s voice. The warthog Pumbaa is voiced by Seth Rogen, while none other than Beyoncé voices the role of Simba’s pal, Nala.

Trailer released for ‘The Lion King’

The Disney teaser trailer first appeared in the US during a TV ad break during the Thanksgiving NFL game. The rest of us can now view the trailer on YouTube.

Jon Favreau is directing the film, who created the remake of “The Jungle Book” in 2016. That film pulled in almost $1 billion at the box office and won an Oscar for the visual effects. Favreau is taking a similar approach with “The Lion King” using CGI motion capture of the lions running on the sunlit African plains. The BBC quotes Favreau as saying it was a “director’s dream” to bring in such a talented team for the film and to bring the classic story to life.

Disney releasing more films next year.

This latest film is among many big titles planned for release by Disney next year. The trailer has already been released for Tim Burton’s “Dumbo,” which is also a live-action film. There will also be sequels to “Toy Story” and “Frozen” in the mix. New installments for the “Star Wars” and “Avengers” franchises are also planned for 2019.

As reported by The Guardian, the 1994 animated version of “The Lion King” was the ninth-highest-grossing film of its kind of all time. There was a lot of praise for the film’s musical score by Tim Rice and Elton John. The animated film also led to a stage musical which is still running in New York City and London right now.

There are estimates that around 95 million people have watched the show.

Janique Charles, who plays the role of Nala in the London West End, sent some advice to Beyoncé on Twitter last year. She told the famous singer to try not to outshine the rest of the cast in the film.

The trailer below reveals impressive scenes of the African plains and the wildlife living there. It also shows Rafiki presenting the young Simba to all the animals living in the Pride Lands.
