It was reported that filmmaker Danny Boyle had left the latest “James Bond” Film over creative differences. It has now been heard from a source close to Boyle that these “creative differences” were due to what Boyle considered the “ridiculous” idea of killing off Daniel Craig’s character in the 25th Bond movie.

When Boyle left the set, the premiere date of the film was set back to 25 October 2019. At the same time, rumours that Idris Elba would be the next 007 were firmly quashed by Elba himself.

‘Dramatic’ departure from the ‘James Bond’ franchise

As reported by the Daily Mail, discussions were made of using a “Doctor Who-esque” regeneration of Bond with a new actor, as Craig now leaves the 007 franchise. This is what caused director Boyle to step down from the 25th “James Bond” film, calling the idea “ridiculous.”

Earlier this year, Boyle – of “Trainspotting” and “Slumdog Millionaire filmmaking fame – was confirmed to be taking over as director of the new Bond film. However, earlier this week the Bond franchise made an announcement on Twitter that he had left over “creative differences.”

Just one day later, the media reported that producers of 25 were not impressed by the film’s script.

The latest film was set to focus heavily on the recent political scandal involving Russia and was supposed to be set in a “modern-day Cold War.”

There was also tension between Boyle and 007 actor Daniel Craig who, together with producer Barbara Broccoli, had come up with the idea of Bond dying to make a “spectacular finale” of Craig’s role as James Bond.

Boyle found this idea to be what he termed “ridiculous.” The source said they wanted to kill off 007 in a dramatic way right at the end of the film, leaving things open for an exciting twist in the next “James Bond” movie.

The twist would be either that Bond had not, in fact, died, or there could be a Doctor Who-like regeneration of Bond with a new actor.

Besides all this going on, there were reportedly disputes over the film’s budgets, with the source saying there was “pandemonium” among the film crew, with people walking off from the film’s production.

Production of the latest film was thus delayed, with some saying the film would now premiere on 25 October 2019. However, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the Bond film’s release could be pushed back to early 2020.

My name's Elba, Idris Elba

Recent rumours had been doing the rounds that Idris Elba would play the role of James Bond in future movies. Elba even sent out a teaser tweet where he said: “My name’s Elba, Idris Elba.” It turns out that was totally in jest, as the actor later gave Good Morning Britain a resounding “No” when asked directly if he would be the next James Bond.

However, according to a tweet by The Studio Exec, it seems Elba will write, direct and sing the theme at the opening of the 25th "James Bond" film.
