Asus only recently launched its revamped ZenFone 4 line-up. Each of the devices under this banner came equipped with specifications especially targeted towards particular consumers. Just a week or so after the launch, the company has announced the list of its smart phones that will #Receive the #Android O update. As per Asus’ announcement, ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 units will upgrade to Android O.

Release date of the device

The company took to its official webpage, where they published a timeframe for the arrival of the update. According to the listing, the Android O update will be hitting Zenfone 3 and ZenFone 4 units in the second half of 2018.

It has also been mentioned by the company that the Android update will be bundled up with the company’s very own ZenUI 4.0 skin on top as well. The ZenUI 4.0 skin is apparently designed especially to fall in line with the latest Android update. Most of the Asus-powered smartphones that are scheduled to receive the update currently run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system, with Asus’ ZenUI 3.0 skin on top.

Specs and features of the phone

The device will receive a major boost after the latest updates, however, the users might have to wait a pretty long time for it. As pointed by Android Headlines, another drawback of the update is that the ZenUI 4.0 only carries about 13 pre-installed apps. Whereas, the current ZenUI 3.0 consists of 35 pre-installed apps. To compensate for the lack of apps, the company has added several new and exciting features.

The company launched a bunch of smartphones during 2016 as well. For example, the ZenFone 3 – this is also scheduled to receive the Android O update.

Google first announced the existence of Android O back in May this year, during its official I/O conference. Following which, developer previews of the software system were released for testing. The company has introduced a total of four developer previews up till now. Google is finally expected to officially roll-out the update on August 23. The software update will first hit Google’s Pixel and Nexus smartphones through over-the-air update method. Following which, other non-Google branded smartphones will also be receiving the subsequent update. Meanwhile, Google is also working towards the launch of its Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 smartphones, which will be introduced either in the month of October or November.
