Manchester United are not alone in their pursuit of PSV Eindhoven's highly-rated attacker Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano, as it has emerged - according to a report published by Sportskeeda - fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal are also allegedly in the running for the Mexican's signature in the January transfer window, with both outfits vying to bolster their offensive ranks for the second half of the 2017-18 domestic schedule.

Lozano, 22, has earned himself 19 senior caps for his country and has also managed to register 10 goals along with 5 assists in just 11 outings for his Dutch employers so far this term. A record which makes him one of the hottest strikers in Europe as it stands, with many potential suitors admiring his exploits in the Eredivisie, a division which has helped produce some of the game's greatest stars such as Wesley Sneijder, Dirk Kuyt and most notably Luis Suarez, who spent part of his formative years at Ajax.

United

The Red Devils already have a menacing attacking contingent at their disposal. Although it seems that after being widely linked to Lozano recently Jose Mourinho's squad is pining for a little extra added competition in the goal-scoring department.

This is despite having Belgian hit-man Romelu Lukaku in their armoury, as well as 36-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic's return to the fold being imminent, with the Swedish talisman's recovery from severe cruciate knee ligament damage making impressive headway - 'Ibra' was United's top scorer last term with 28 goals in all competitions. So his reemergence in the set-up will only promise yet more danger in the final third.

United once had West Ham's Javier Hernandez on their books between 2010 to 2015 - barring a season's long loan at La Liga giant's Real Madrid during the 2014-15 season. 'Chicarito' notched 59 goals in 158 appearances within his stint at Old Trafford, and if Lozano can mimic his countryman's efforts on English soil, the "Special One" will presumably be hot on his heels, with a pen and contract primed at the ready.

Arsenal

It's anticipated that Alexis Sanchez is destined for a New Year's switch - or alternatively, a summer jump if all is to fail for in January - to Manchester City in order to reunite himself with Pep Guardiola, who coached the Chilean attacker at FC Barcelona. Sanchez is currently eating into the final year of his contract at the Emirates, although the 28-year-old is indeed yet to make a defining decision upon his future. So naturally, anything is possible, even a stay at the north Londoners is not strictly off the cards as it stands.

But, if Sanchez is to pack his bags for the Etihad, Arsene Wenger and his team are prepared to duel with United for Lozano's services. PSV's star performer possesses a low centre of gravity and is uncannily nimble on his feet, striking a relative resemblance to Sanchez's approach to the game, making him the ultimate, like for like replacement.

Clause

It's believed that Lozano has a whopping 34m-euro release clause included in his standing deal at the Philips Stadion, so if United and Arsenal are indeed interested in luring him away from his surroundings in mainland Europe, they'll have to stump-up a fairly substantial amount to do so. Lozano signed a six-year contract in 2017 for PSV after leaving Mexican side Pachuca, and though the emerging talent has only been at the 'Boeren' for a short space of time, perhaps a move to the Premier League is not as far away as first thought after all.
