Miami is all set to witness another rivalry that had been faded due to injury to one player. The stage is all set to witness an interesting duel between Argentinean Juan Martin Del Potro and Swiss mastero Roger Federer in Round 32 of the Miami Open. This is the first time these two players will meet each other after their last meeting at the 2013 Paris Bercy. Del Potro had a dream come back after injury in the year 2016 and helped Argentina win the Davis Cup.

Federer is having a dream run in 2017 while Del Potro is struggling

Federer won the Australian Open 2017 with style, trouncing Nadal in an epic five setter. Many people were still not convinced that the Swiss mastero was slowly coming back to the prime of his form. However, he silenced everyone with another impressive performance in Indian Wells. He just trounced Wawrinka in the final and did so by playing the serve and volley game. His backhand has improved and he is playing more of the one handed backhand and is also seen rushing to net with more purpose.

The Swiss mastero will be at sternest test at Miami. The reason for is that Federer had enough rest before playing the Australian Open and he had taken a minor break before playing Indian wells. This is for the first time in 2017 that he is playing in a tournament without any break and he is all set to take on Juan Martin del Potro in the round of 32 at Miami.

Del Potro vs Federer

The Swiss mastero's track record against Juan Martin del Potro is very impressive and he has notched up 15 wins with just 5 losses in his illustrious career. The Swiss maestro is also having a record of 14-1 in the year 2017 while Del Potro is having a 6-3 record in the year 2017. The Argentinean and Federer have met six times at Grand Slams and five times it has come at the quarterfinal or later stage.

The Argentinean has beaten Federer three times in the last five meetings and the last seven meetings has gone to the deciding sets also. Federer track record in Miami is not impressive but he won this tournament way back in 2005 and 2006. He was the semi finalist in the year's 2009 and 2011 and that shows he does not have an impressive record in this tournament of late and that is what the Argentinean would be targeting. The Swiss maestro is having an impressive record in the Masters 1000 series having beaten the Argentinean five times.

Del Potro should try to stretch Federer in round 32 at Miami. Federer had an off –colour win in the round 64 .
