Julian Draxler first broke through the ranks at Wolfsburg's Bundesliga rivals Schalke, making his debut as an 18 year-old in 2011. After breaking into the first team, the enigmatic midfielder earned rave reviews for his performances and was linked to some of the top sides in Europe including Arsenal and Juventus. However the World Cup winner made a surprise €30 million move to Wolfsburg on deadline day 2015, replacing outgoing Kevin De Bruyne. Now after just under a year and a half at the club, Draxler is looking to leave Germany with the Premier League one of his potential destinations, however PSG's interest has sparked a potential January bidding war for the midfielder.

Premier League Interest

Draxler has been a name that has been consistently linked with Arsenal for the past couple of years following his breakout season at Schalke. Now is the first real possibility that Wenger can convince the German to join his title challenge at the Emirates. Nevertheless, Arsenal are not the only Premier League club interested in bringing Draxler to England with Klopp a known admirer; and keen to bring in an offensive recruit to Liverpool with Sadio Mane spending the month with Senegal in the AFCON. After submitting a transfer request last summer, Draxler was the subject of boos from home supporters during a 3-2 defeat to Hertha Berlin. Using the post-match interview to reaffirm his desire to leave the club.

"I don't think I need to tell anybody what [being booed] does to a person - it certainly doesn't help you. I can understand the fans, though. They have every right to do that. I said in the summer the way I feel and I stand by that."

Whilst it has been reported that Draxler fancies a move to the Premier League, both Liverpool and Arsenal's title challenges would benefit from the German's presence in their sides.

If it is a move to England for him then Klopp has first hand knowledge on him having worked against him in Germany but Wenger has been scouting the midfielder for years, so it will be an interesting fight over Draxler. However PSG's interest in the man could complicate things.

PSG

Despite Premier League interest, it is the general consensus that neither Liverpool nor Arsenal will be able to financially compete with PSG in the race for Draxler.

The French club are currently in pole position to sign their man, with Wolfsburg holding out for about £35 million. However as it stands there has been no decision made by the player himself, revealed in an interview with Bild.

"I am in talks with a couple of clubs, but so far no decision has been made. We will all sit down and make a sensible decision that is suitable for us."

So as it stands it is going to be a three horse race with Draxler guaranteed to leave Germany in the January transfer window. A move to Liverpool or Arsenal seems unlikely at the moment but he could be convinced given his previous desire to play Premier League Football.
