England wins the toss and decide to bat first in the fourth test against India being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from December 8-12, 2016. The match start time is 9.30 am IST.

When last reports came in, England score was 27/0 in eight overs.

The visitors are still smarting by the drubbing they got in Mohali, but the hosts must not be complacent since the English side is most dangerous when wounded, particularly by the denizens of a nation which their ancestors had once ruled.

Both the teams have a fair share of injuries and the injury to Ajinkya Rahane will be a big blow and increase the worries of Virat Kohli, the Indian Captain of the Test team.

Karun Nair performed well in the previous Test and therefore must be given a chance. Manish Pandey has also been called up.

Mohammed Shami who injured his knee and is unfit and will in all probability be replaced by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shami also did not attend the practice sessions in the nets hinting that his injury is more severe than assumed. He was seen having a long discussion with physio Patrick Farhat and coach Anil Kumble.

Team news and pitch report

Indian pacers have been instrumental in cracking the English wall, and the spinners follow with some excellent bowling. The Wankhede pitch has in the past assisted the spinners, but the first opening will be on the shoulders of the pace battery of the hosts.

Virat will surely miss the extra pace of Mohammed Shami which served as an addition to Umesh Yadav. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is lethal in humid and windy conditions and whenever there is a promise of swing the young bowler has delivered.

The English camp is no different when it comes to injuries the English team fares no better. Haseeb Hameed who impressed everyone with his exploits will now make way for Keaton Jennings. Stuart Broad is still nursing his injury, and the visitors will not be making many changes to their original team which played in Mohali.
