The Irishman became the first duel-weight world champion in history after his win to Eddie Alvarez which lasted two roundshttps://uk.blastingnews.com/sport/2016/11/ufc-205-weigh-ins-main-card-fight-cancelled-and-unlikely-champions-face-off-001252313.html at UFC 205. The 145lb division has been in limbo ever since McGregor dethroned Aldo at UFC 194 in December, with The Notorious moving up to welterweight for a double-header with Nate Diaz before taking on Alvarez.

Conor McGregor's power within the promotion has allowed him keep the strap, despite backlash from fighters and fans, https://uk.blastingnews.com/sport/2016/11/ufc-205-alvarez-vs-mcgregor-main-event-breakdown-part-i-001249119.html but the division can't wait any longer.

McGregor announced that he would take a break following the victory as he mentioned that he may be going on a break as his wife is expecting their first child but at 28 he is still young in the game, and make no mistake the ball is in his court. The question however is where does the promotion's first ever duel-weight world champion go from here, should he continue to remain active inside the octagon. Also if he does return there is no doubt former king-pin Aldo, who has threatened to retire over the situation, is next in line after defeating Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 to win the interim title.

Whatever the decisions or outcomes are as it stands Conor McGregor has the UFC in the palm of his hand….

Floyd Mayweather VS Conor McGregor

McGregor promised that's*** would hit the fan in the near future and there is no bigger potential match-up in combat sports than this one.

Both men have had plenty to say about each other with regards to the money fight to end all money fights but the reality of contracts, promoters and Mayweather's retirement mean any agreement is a long, long way off.

A super-fight with Floyd Mayweather is a dream said Conor McGregor as he teased fans with a face off poster of himself and Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor further went on to say I'm here to fight, I'm here to win every belt and then I'm gone, I'll see the game later, I'll walk away from this game, I'll set it ablaze and walk away.

And that's it. That is what the 28-year-old said at the beginning of this year.

There is no doubt that he has set it ablaze, and with only the welterweight title a realistic possibility, albeit unlikely, to challenge for, McGregor might have achieved what he set out to do.
