The EFL cup returns tonight with possibly the most electric derby in English Football, Manchester United vs Manchester City.

Both teams enter the game in a poor run of form so not only will they be looking for the victory, they will also be looking to secure the bragging rights for their loyal fans.

Manchester United welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford with the hope of securing a spot in the quarter finals of the English Football League cup, but what players are expected to stand out in a fierce fixture such as this one?

Who to watch

1. David De Gea

The 25 year old Spanish International goalkeeper seems to thrive off the big fixtures, whether it be in the cup or Premier league.

De Gea must surely be the first name on the team sheet week in week out under Jose Mourinho and we can't be surprised. The talented young keeper has played some crucial parts in United's season already and we can expect him to be as solid as ever between the sticks againsManchester City.

Looking back at United's fixture against Liverpool last Monday, the Spanish shot stopper looked unbeatable at Anfield as he secured his side a 0-0 draw against the inform reds. Mourinho will be expecting more of the same from De Gea tonight as City offer the same dangerous attacking set up as Liverpool, but will De Gea be up for the challenge?

2. Kevin De Bruyne

The 25 year old Belgian International is certainly in the form of his career at Manchester City, whether it's down to the attacking freedom Guardiola offers him that's a different story.

De Bruyne is certainly the player all managers want in their squad entering a difficult fixture like this one. His pace going forward looks almost impossible to stop when he gets going, and this will certainly prove a difficult task for Manchester United's defence.

Not only does De Bruyne offer so many solo traits, he also links up perfectly with his attacking team mates such as Sergio Aguero and David Silva going forward and this will be an area Guardiola will look upon on many occasions this season.

The Belgian International has already bagged 9 goals in 33 appearances for Manchester City but he has yet to score in the Manchester derby, I wouldn't write him off for a goal tonight either

3.Paul Pogba

This will be a perfect opportunity for the Frenchman to silence the critics after his poor start for Manchester United. the 23 year old played in the previous Premier league fixture between the two sides and there is no other way to describe his performance than to call it "Abysmal".

Pogba signed for the reds for a huge £89m transfer fee and ever since he hasn't looked at all comfortable in the centre of midfield under Mourinho. Looking back at Pogba's Juventus days he was in his element dribbling through players with the ball but he certainly has not been offered the freedom to do that at Manchester United just yet.Personally I can't wait to see him send balls over the top to the likes of Ibrahimovic and Rashford to chase and tonight will be the perfect opportunity.

4. Sergio Aguero

Last but certainly not least, the Argentinian magician Sergio Kun Aguero. The 28 year old centre forward always seems to excel expectations in the big fixtures and Guardiola will be hoping he does the business tonight.

Aguero is arguably one of the best strikers to ever play in the Premier league with a very impressive goals tally already, he's pretty much certain to score for Manchester City tonight if previous fixtures between the two are to go by.

Aguero offers everything: Dribbling, shooting, aerial threat. tracking back and helping on the defensive side. The Argentine has got everything and he's certainly the main player to keep an eye on in tonight's fixture
