Atletico Madrid go through to the last eight with after being the better side on the night. They will feel they deserved to win it in normal time but they had to go through the dreaded penalties. Despite it being just 1-0 after extra time it was a very entertaining match full of chances but both teams defended very well in an open encounter.

Half time' - It's half time here and Atletico have the 1-0 lead. It's all square overall with one half to play after Mario Suarez struck from the edge of the box and it deflected in to give the hosts the all important goal. It's been a heated contest with a lot of fouls but it is Atletico who have controlled the possession and the tempo as Leverkusen are playing a counter attacking game.
They have looked dangerous themselves on the break but still no goals on their part.
