Former Liverpool player #Jamie Redknapp and former pop star wife, Louise were granted a divorce on Friday in the Central Family Court in London. Mrs Redknapp, who is also a former Strictly Come Dancing show finalist filed for divorce against Jamie citing her ex-husband's "unreasonable behaviour " as grounds according to court papers. None of them, however, made it to the brief court hearing when a family court judge eventually declared their marriage "irretrievably broke " in which a decree nisi was granted to the absent couple, ending the couple's nineteen-year-old marriage.

The couple's divorce follows a series of events which also includes a split last October which Louise confirmed, making mention when confirming their separation, that she felt like " a sort of Stepford wife "

The end of a 19-year marriage

Mr and Mrs Redknapp married back in 1998, their wedding took place on a luxury 130ft yacht known as #Lady Tamara in Bermuda. The couple shares two sons together, Charley who is thirteen years old and Beau who is just nine years. They are expected to reach agreeable terms over custody of their two sons. "My priority and his priority is our children and protecting them and keeping as much of it as private as possible and loving them and putting them first and that’s what we're focusing on," she told This Morning host Eamonn Holmes in September.

Their granted decree nisi must be waited for by the divorce petitioner, six weeks and a day to apply for a decree absolute which would then formally end their marriage.

The judge at the helm of the couple's court proceedings said Louise couldn't be expected to live with Jamie, who now works as a television pundit. Jamie Redknapp, on the other hand, issued no challenge or defence whatsoever to his wife's divorce application.

Louise Redknapp's new chapter

Louise, now 43, admitted to a longing to relaunch her career following the thrill of last year's dance show and it's touring. A former #Eternal pop singer, Louise said that she wanted to perform and also how she physically felt sick at the idea she'd never have that buzz again.

Although Louise said she felt the way she did about her ex-husband, she said at the height of their troubles as a couple, she actually loved him and regarded him as an 'amazing' partner, also stating she was coming to understand who she really is. Their divorce also follows reports that Louise had hired #Kevin Clifton as her official choreographer. Kevin is her former dance partner on Strictly Come Dancing. Kevin is currently putting together dance routines for Louise as believed for her #New Year's Eve show at London nightclub G-A-Y.
