Everyone loves great TV. Some of the best stories are told through this outlet and, in recent years, a lot of A-list actors and actresses have starred in various Television shows. In the past, television was seen as a massive step below film. But now, the two are on a much more equal level in terms of credibility and cinematic quality. Netflix has become one of the most popular and easiest places to watch their original TV content as well as binge TV shows from other networks. There are a lot of choices, so let’s discuss some of the best shows that are worth your time.

'House of Cards'

Without a doubt, 'House of Cards' is the reason why Netflix Originals and, to some extent, Netflix and streaming itself are the powerhouses that they are today. This political drama stars Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood and, in the 4 seasons available, we focus on his rise to power within the corrupt political arena of the United States.

'House of Cards' has captivated audiences through its shocking, bold storytelling and provided the TV industry with a credibility that was not there before. It revolutionised TV, how we consume TV and I guaranteed that you will be hooked from the very beginning.

'Breaking Bad'

Widely regarded by many as one of the greatest TV shows of all time, 'Breaking Bad' premiered in 2008 and the story follows Chemistry teacher Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, who is diagnosed with terminal cancer and seeks to provide for his family by making and selling crystal meth with the aid of Jesse, his former pupil played by Aaron Paul.

While not an original Netflix series, you can stream all 5 seasons right now.

'Breaking Bad' won countless awards and received critical acclaim throughout its 5-season run. Additionally, it made Bryan Cranston, known at that time for being Hal in 'Malcolm in the Middle', a household name and the show is still being discussed and lauded by TV lovers today.

The show also spawned a spin-off called 'Better Call Saul' which you can also find on Netflix. The legacy of 'Breaking Bad' is profound and the show is necessary viewing.

'Stranger Things'

This horror/thriller/sci-fi/coming-of-age show premiered as a Netflix Original in the summer of 2016 and told the story of the disappearance of a young boy and his friends and family’s attempt to find him in the face of supernatural events and a mysterious government agency.

'Stranger Things' was a phenomenon when its first season came out and the show was praised for its ability to pay homage to the 1980s in addition to bringing out fantastic performances from the child actors, with particular highlights being Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven and Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin. The second season is set for a release around Halloween of 2017 so now is the perfect time to binge the first season and prepare for the highly anticipated second season of 'Stranger Things'.

Honourable Mentions

We have discussed 3 great shows for you to watch on Netflix but there are many others including 'Mad Men', 'Rick and Morty', 'The Expanse', 'American Crime Story: The People v. O. J. Simpson', 'The Crown' and 'The OA'. Evidently, there are a lot of options, but sadly there is never enough time. Still, hopefully these shows are a good place to start!
