In October 2014, we had this incredible announcement: Twin Peaks is going to come back on Showtime. David Lynch revealed that he was going to pen a third season of the cult TV seriesstarring Kyle Maclachlan which aired on ABC from 1990 to 1991 . After almost two years of news, changes and postponing, now it seems likely that the wait is almost over. Let's recap what we know so far and have a look at the first preview.

Twin Peaks 2017: An incredible cast

Fans were really surprisedwhen the cast was officially revelead. There are so many new actors and even a singer!

Yes, I am not joking. Pearl Jam's frontman Eddie Vedder will appear in the third season along with the italian actress Monica Bellucci, Jim Belushi, Naomi Watts and many more. Almost the entire cast of the original run will be back as well, and even X-Files' David Duchovny will show up inthe upcoming episodes.

David Lynch threatened to leave

In the end, everything turned out in a perfect way. Lynchhas directed and written all the 18 episodes of this new run, but there was a huge risk that he could exit the project. Due to contract's issues concerning apparently the number of episode order and the budget, David Lynch didn't want to continue to bepart of the project. A Twin Peaks Lynch-less would be a joke and Showtime made his way back to Lynch's approval.

Now it's official that Twin Peaks is going to air in the first half of 2017.
