San Andreas is a new action / drama / thriller movie set in California in the aftermath of a massive earthquake when a rescue-chopper pilot (played by Dwayne Johnson) makes a dangerous journey across the state in order to rescue his estranged daughter.

The movie was directed by the relatively young Brad Peyton, who is widely known for directing the relatively successful sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth [2008], entitled Journey 2: The Mysterious Island [2012], which grossed 335 million dollars worldwide.

The movie stars are the abovementioned Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Alexandra Daddario who is best known for playing Annabeth Chase in the Percy Jackson film series and Carla Gugino, known for her roles in the Spy Kids trilogy, Watchmen [2009] and Sucker Punch [2011].

The action film is set to debut in theaters worldwide on the 29th of May 2015 in most of the biggest film markets, including the United States and United Kingdom, but the official private premiere was held in London on Thursday, the 21st of May.

Dwayne Johnson has one of the most impressive resumes in Hollywood, having been a college football star, a WWE champion, and for the past years a renowned movie star. After singing Taylor Swift's 'Shake it off' on TV, a few weeks ago, he wanted to add another memorable moment to his CV by setting a world record at the London premiere. The Rock decided to set the world record for the most selfies taken in 3 minutes and accomplished it by taking a total of 105 selfies with his fans in the 180 seconds available (1.7 sec per selfie).

The record was validated by Guinness World Records adjudicator Mark McKinley, who ensured that selfie rules and requirements, including the full face and neck of participants being visible and no blurred images, were followed. Dwayne's gesture was a great opportunity for fans to get close to the movie star and also a very creative marketing trick for his upcoming movie.

The Rock's last film Furious 7 was a huge record-breaking hit at the box office and although San Andreas is a much smaller project there is a chance Dwayne himself will also be able to attract enough moviegoers to break records with his new action-packed movie, San Andreas.
