One of the UK's most successful singer-songwriter is not content with his mantle piece full of awards. Taking the music world by storm, #Ed Sheeran is determined to make his next move one for the big screen.

The 24-year-old singer is on a mission to Westeros. He hopes to secure a role in the popular TV series, Game of Thrones and is allegedly "hounding" HBO bosses to bag a place in the 6th series. Sheeran was previously approached by the producers of the medieval fantasy epic, but has not yet found the time to take part in the show.

Snow Patrol's lead singer Gary Lightbody and Coldplay drummer Will Champion featured in the show in 2013 and Sheeran, who claims to be a huge fan of the hit TV series, thinks it's his turn to make #Television history.

The BRIT award-winning artist has recently had a taste of life in front of the television cameras when he starred in Home and Away whilst on tour in Australia.

The 'Thinking out Loud' singer admits that he is ready to hang up his guitar for a while in order to spend time on the show that is now in its 5th season. The star admits he's always wanted to be part of the Game of Thrones cast, but touring has prevented him from grabbing the opportunity in previous years.

He told The Sun: "There were talks ages ago of me being an extra, which could have been cool. But every time they shoot it's the time I tour in the UK. "I've got that time off this year, so I'm going to hound them," he added.

Grow yourself a beard Ed, and you might just fit right in. He even has some friends among the cast. Game of Thrones star, Maisie Williams who plays Arya Stark admits she is a massive fan of the singer; and it turns out he is a massive fan of her too. She spoke about their Twitter friendship on the Late Late Show and was extremely excited about finally meeting him that evening.

The winner of Best British Male Solo Artist, and Game of Thrones super-fan has made his love for medieval weaponry no secret. In an interview at a New Zealand radio station last week where he was treated to a special gift - a replica of Jon Snow's sword, Longclaw.
