Al Franken is a Senator in a branch of the Democratic Party who has been accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct. This makes him the latest in a long line of men who have come under fire for using their position of power to sexually abuse women, which includes film producer Harvey Weinstein, filmmaker James Toback, Republican official Roy Moore, and comedian Louis CK.

So, who exactly is Al Franken? Before his career in politics, he was an icon in the world of comedy. He was famous for his style of satirical political humour, which is also the topic of four of his seven published books.
Specifically, his style was critical of conservative political views, which was what got him a seat as an elected official on the liberal side of the spectrum when he ran for Senate in the US state of Minnesota.
His memoir about life in the US Senate was a New York Times Non-Fiction Best Seller. Franken was also a writer and performer for the famous and long-running NBC sketch comedy series “Saturday Night Live,” which is still on the air and still criticising conservatives to this day. He worked on the show on and off from 1977 to 1995, and he has also appeared in cameo roles in movies as diverse as “Trading Places” and “The Manchurian Candidate.”
