The film story is all about how the Indian Submarine -S 21 destroyed the Pakistani Submarine 'Ghazi' which ventured into Indian waters in 1971 with an ambition to destroy INS Vikrant. What challenges the Indian Naval officers in S-21 faced and how they execute the plan forms the crux of the story.

Rana Daggubati, Om Puri, K K Menon are seen as Naval officers in the movie and Taapsee Pannu is seen as Refugee.

Mega Chiranjeevi in Telugu, Suriya in Tamil and Amitabh Bachchan in Hindi gave voiceover for the film during the start describing the major incidents of the story, their voiceovers are a special attraction for the film in respective languages.
